As you can see, we had a lovely stand featuring dedicated areas to demonstrate our mobile, cloud and IoT technology. It certainly drew a huge amount of attention; particularly the debut of our brand new Meizu Ubuntu phone.
Mobile
We demonstrated the shipping BQ phone, as well as the higher spec, upcoming Meizu device. Both were huge hits with many people disappointed that they couldn’t get one on the spot! There were demos, of course, but this was also a chance for people to pick up the phones and use them. The feedback from individuals and OEMs was overwhelmingly positive.
Visitors to the booth saw a very compelling story taking them from the present (BQ), to the upcoming (Meizu), and the future (convergence). The convergence story continues to be incredibly compelling.
Cloud
The Cloud team was also worked off their feet during the 4 1/2 days, meeting a host of existing and potential customers and partners. Following our partnership announcement with Juniper we showed how Ubuntu OpenStack is at the heart of telco datacenter & network convergence, SDN evaluations and NFV. We impressed visitors with a host of live demonstrations, showing why Deutsche Telekom, NTT and AT&T are using Ubuntu and OpenStack as the base for their strategies going forward.
We also showed true innovation around SDN evaluation and demonstrated how IMS systems and base-stations can be open-sourced – more on these developments soon. Check out this short video on how Juju can scale an infrastructure in response to telemetry readings in Zabbix.
Internet Of Things
We also had a great opportunity to show off Ubuntu Core and talk to device markers, silicon vendors and app developers about the opportunities around IoT. Showcasing smart switches, robots, home controllers and more, the team was able to excite the crowds with our vision for a secure, manageable IoT platform.
We’re already looking forward to MWC2016!
